Reflecting

Reflecting on some things. The older we get the clearer it is that youth and beauty are only for a season. While every old person you see was once a youth, not every youth you see will become an elder. Life is precious in every season- beginning, middle, end – and should never be taken for granted. The image reflected back at you in the mirror will change over the years, until your years are over. So many aspects of your life will change! As time marches on, wisdom can help you understand that you are so much more than what you see in the mirror, what your job title is or isn’t…or any other temporary stage in life that you may be tempted to hinge your “identity” on. You are an eternal soul who can achieve an eternal beauty, vitality, and identity in Christ that time cannot erase…because time cannot touch eternity. “Therefore we do not lose heart, even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed each day” 2 Cor. 4:16. Our bodies are getting older, but we are eternal. As we’re fading on the outside, we rightfully do what we can to enhance and protect the health of our body. How much more should we attend to the health of our eternal soul. There are riches that moth and rust cannot destroy (Matthew 6:20) and there is beauty that time cannot erase. Steward the temporary well, but champion the eternal. One day we will realize that the things we can’t yet see are the most important things. 2 Cor 4:18 “we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
