Truth: A Good Work Titus 3:8

“Five Faithful Sayings from Scripture”

We looked at the apostle Paul’s first faithful saying found in Titus 3:8 “This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good & profitable to men.”

Therefore, if we as believers are to maintain good works, it is important to understand what constitutes a “good work.”

  1. A work is considered “good” if it is a clear overflow of one’s Witness for Jesus.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and
    glorify your Father in heaven.
  2. A work is considered “good” if it is a result of the abundant Grace of God.
2 Corinthians 9:8 “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you,
always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
  3. A work is considered “good” if it is from a life that’s been Crafted by God.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them
    .”
  4. A work is considered “good” if it testifies of the Lordship of Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
  5. A work is considered “good” if it is the produce of Christians Living in Community.
Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking
the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another
    ,”
  6. A work is considered “good” if it leads the lost to Give God Glory.
1 Peter 2:12 “having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as
evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
