How is light used in Scripture?
- Light is used to reference salvation (Ps 27:1, 84:11, Is 60:19-20, Micha 7:8, I Pet 2:9)
- Light is used to symbolize direction (Ex 13:21, Ps 119:105, Prov 6:23, Matt 5:14-16, I John 1:7)
What are some of the Sources of Confusion and Darkness?
- Worldly wisdom can lead to the absence of light (v.12)
- Religious leaders can lead to the absence of light (v. 13)
- Legalism can lead to the absence of light (v. 15)
- Blind intellect can lead to the absence of light (v. 19)
What was Jesus communicating?
- He is the source of Life (v.12)
- He is the source of Truth (v. 14)
- He is the source of Justice (v. 16)
- He is the source of Communion (v. 19
How are we to respond to the Light?
- Seek God for guidance
- Pray that He will reveal areas of spiritual darkness in your life.
- Submit to God each day.
- Proclaim your desire to walk in the light of Christ
- Study the Scriptures faithfully.
- Pursue Jesus as the Light of the world in the Word
